Iconic Candy Terry Fanfics

Ever since The Big Break Up in the original story, fans of Candy and Terry have been searching for ways to heal the pain and despair we felt for our beloved couple. Our hearts ached for Terry, knowing he was condemned to a life with that manipulative, selfish little Chipie. One way that we coped, and to try to “fan fix” this situation, was to write fanfics. There are tons of Candy Candy fanfics out there, and they’re easy to find with a little Google search. Here, however, we want to highlight a few that have over time become representative works all on their own among fans of Candy and Terry. If reading CCFS wasn’t enough and you’re looking for more to fill your Candy-Terry fix, we hope you’ll enjoy these.

Re-ecounter in the Vortex

Re-encounter in the Vortex (Reencuentro en el vórtice), by Mercurio a/k/a Alys Avalos, is the grandmother of all Candy Terry fanfics. Mercurio wrote the first ever CT fanfic (circa  2002?), and the advent of the internet enable it to be widely read by many fans for the first time. The story was inspired by a movie about young Hemmingway during WWI. In the story, Candy was a war nurse in France and Terry was a soldier. The story was written originally in English and was translated to Spanish. A reader also made an audio reading in Spanish of the entire story on YouTube.

The story has been fan translated to Japanese, French, and Italian. It even inspired a mini anime, which we will show you below. The anime art is quite basic, as it was home made. But it was a labor of love. There are many other video clips on YouTube you can find that are dedicated to this fic. There are even Facebook groups. This story has achieved canon status, and will always be loved by Candy and Terry fans.

Below, we share with you YouTube audio reading of this story, the short fan-made anime, and a video clip of art work of this story created on the tenth anniversary of this fanfic.

To our knowledge, there is no official site host of this story anymore. Copies of this story had been uploaded by various fans. The versions we’re linking to are two that credit Mercurio as the author. We cannot guarantee that the versions are accurate, grammatically sound, or complete.

Also, this story has been appropriated by many who have posted it all over the web and claiming to be the author. If the upload says anyone other than Mercurio or Alys Alvaros as the author, please do not support those sites or those imposters. This story belongs to Mercurio, and she deserves credit for it.

The Season of the Daffodils

The Season of the Daffodils (La Temporada de Narcisos) by Josephine Hymes was THE iconic Candy-Terry fanfic released after the publication of CCFS in 2010. After learning that Susanna had died and Terry had written to Candy, and Candy was now living with a man she referred to as “Anohito”, fans were dying to know how Candy and Terry reunited. To our dismay, Nagita did not write that part of the story in CCFS. Thereafter, CT fan Josephine Hymes, who is a wonderful writer, wrote this amazing novella to reimagine what brought our dear couple back together. This fanfic was read by tons of fans hungry for resolution. To this day, it is still considered the definitive story of Candy and Terry’s reunion, and will continue to be unless and until Nagita herself release an authoritative version.

There is a vintage black and white movie of the story made by artist Nuria, authorized by Josephine herself. The movie is one of a kind, made in accordance with the 1920s time era, and a wonderful tribute to Candy and Terry. We share below the first three videos of this movie. You can visit the YouTube channel for the rest.

The One I Love Belongs to Somebody Else

The One I Love Belongs to Somebody Else by Alexa Kang is another novella that tells the story of how Candy and Terry reunited and lead to the conclusion of CCFS. This story was written in 2014, and has been fan translated into French and Italian. It is currently being fan translated into Spanish. It is a delightful little story, written in accordance to the 1920s time era.

Along with this story, Alexa worked with the Altabe Studio to create an anime version of a scene of her story, in which Terry proposed to Candy on the ship on their way to their permanent home in England. She also worked with Altabe and artist Dark Vanessa to create fan arts, which are shown below.

After this story, Alexa continued on and wrote a sequel—an epic WWII love story about Candy and Terry’s daughter, Tessa, and Albert’s son, Anthony. Tessa has her father Terry’s temperament. Anthony (Ardley) in this story is a tribute to Anthony Brown in Candy Candy. He is what Alexa imagined Anthony Brown to be like if he had grown up to be a young man. The story was posted online for fans back in 2014-2015. It has since been rewritten as its own novel series titled Rose of Anzio, with the background and names of all CC characters altered, and published on Amazon. The series is a great success, and has spread the memory of Candy, Terry, and Anthony to a wider audience beyond the CC fandom. You can scroll down to the bottom of the page to find out more about Rose of Anzio.

Scarlet Rose

Scarlet Rose (La-rosa-escarlata) by Eleanna Sakka is long running romance saga, beloved and much talked about  by Candy and Terry fans. This story has won multiple awards from Autoras Candy & Terry, a Facebook group dedicated to giving awards for best Terry fanfics every year. In 2019, Scarlet Rose won three awards in 2019: Best Fanfic (in progress) of the year, Best Fanfic in continuation of CCFS, Best Erotic fanfic

Candice White Ardley would tell you she had a lot of blessings in her life if you asked her. But equally she lived through many tragic events and a lot of heartache. After a very dramatic break up with Terrence Graham, she withdrew for many years at Pony’s home, the orphanage she grew up, her personal sanctuary in Indiana.  After William Albert Ardley, her guardian and close confidant passes away tragically by a long-term illness, she realises life is passing her by while she keeps herself surrounded by ghosts. Keeping the promise she gave to Terry, of “being happy”, she moves to 1920’s London. There she follows Albert’s example and takes another persona. Living as Rose White, an American rich expat, she mingles with the bright young people of London’s rich society, and leads a life of non stop fun, frivolous parties and romantic encounters. In Christian Blake, she finds a lover who captures her imagination. He forces her to face her past and she becomes his Muse.

But there is a past and a dark secret following him. Her life will turn upside down with the arrival of Terrence Graham, the only man she had truly loved but had to give away ten years ago. In a dramatic end, past and present will collide. Christian, Candy and Terry will feel that the invisible bonds connecting them will ultimately be their undoing…Fate this time will have no role. They will only decide how this story is going to end . . .

Pony’s Hill Will Always be There

Pony’s Hill Will Always be Thereby Papirous a/k/a Elsa Doumtsi, is a popular one that Candy Terry fans remember fondly. In Elsa’s own words:

My goal and wish and most of all my inner wanting, was to write a realistic story.  Not that Candy’s story doesn’t had a realistic point of view, but I wanted to show that in real life we have joy, sadness, secrets, revelations and choices; further more in a whole lifetime of a person many things can happen. And as a result many situations might change us. But in my humble opinion one thing can never change. True love. If there is and if it might happen, can never die or change. It might go for a short time to coma but also to rise again in its glory.

My fan fic has influences from the anime, manga, the FS but also from the preview novels from Misuki. Also a big influence was my great grandma, and some real life stories. I have created some new characters but not too many that might confuse you. I tried to stay inside the characters, and in a few cases I had to go out of them, but I had my reason for doing it (you’ll understand when you read it! )

The present time of the story is around 1960 + and the flash back chapters ( sometimes only a small paragraph or a phrase ) are from 1920+ till 1930 +.

Hope you will enjoy my fic and I want to thank all of you girls that encouraged me to start translating it and also my dear friends at TGF ( terry greek forum ) that were by my side all this time, to finish my story at first place.

Letters to Juliet

Letters to Juliet by Leia Neige is another fan favorite. It has been translated to French—titled Lettres à Juliette, and Spanish—titled Cartas par Julieta

Ten years have elapsed since Candy and Terry broke up. Back to Pony’s home, she works as a nurse at Dr Martin’s clinic. For her birthday, she receives a strange present from her friends : a journey to Italy. With the company of Patty, she begins her travel, ignoring that Terry is looking for her . . . But Eliza is still full of hate for her, and will try with all her might to prevent this reunion. Will she succeed?

Originally written as a Candy Candy fanfic, Rose of Anzio is the imagined sequel of CCFS by Alexa Kang, which tells the story of Candy Candy, the next generation. It began when another CC fanfic author, Eleanna Sakka, posed the question: What would a female Terry be like? Alexa, in trying to imagine such a character, created Tessa, the daughter of Candy and Terry.  The character Tessa soon took over her mind, and a new story was born.

In creating this story, Alexa continued the character Anthony, the little toddler son of Albert first written in her CC fanfic, The One I Love Belonged to Somebody Else. In Rose of Anzio, little Anthony is all grown up. He is what Alexa imagined what Anthony Brown would be like, if he hadn’t died in the fox hunting accident, and grown up to become a young man he should have been. And in 1940, he is facing the precarious prospect of being called to go to war.

The story gained a dedicated following of readers when it was first introduced as a fanfic. When it was completed, Alexa decided to turn it into an original published work. In the published version of Rose of Anzio, all adaptions from the story Candy Candy were removed and/or rewritten (including Candy and Terry’s backstory with Susanna), and all CC characters were renamed. This was done to ensure no infringement on the copyrights of Keiko Nagita and her publishers. However, if you’re a CC fan reading this story, you will surely be able to recognize characters who were once part of the Candy Candy cast.

You can find out more about the Rose of Anzio series on Amazon.
