Wondering where did it stated Candy and Terry had separated for 7 years? Thank you!

Hi dear @Laynie, you have to follow the chronology and some important dates Nagita wrote in her story to calculate how many years Candy and Terry were separated. After several analysis we agree that the separation at the New York’s hospital was in the winter of the years 1915-1916. Candy in her letters after that mentioned the death of Stear, how she knew Albert was the uncle William, the construction of the happy clinic of doctor Martin near pony’s home, the memorial at Lakewood remembering Stair when WWI ended, at the end of 1918, Archie going to the university and marrying Annie after that, and when the war ended the news about Terry as successful actor playing Hamlet, two round tours in America and after that a tour to England. In that moment the story is at least in 1921. Susana’s death could be around 1922 after the England tour, or she stayed in New York being ill. Terry wanted to write to candy doubting to do that for a year and a half. We believe candy and Terry met after candy received Terry’s letter in 1924. It is an interesting excercise to try to check the chronology when you read it and still os open to discussion in some little details.

But there is a possiblilty that Terry’s letter to Candy was witten before Susana´s death. He mentioned “one year”, and also we assume it refers to one year after Susana’s death, it could also mean one year after their separation in New York.

Hi @Glory Raban, these are my thoughts about your proposal. Candy read in susana’s obituary that Terry was by susana’s side until she died, also they were compromised but never married. So, there is no logic in thinking that Terry sends Candy a letter telling her that he hasn’t changed (=he still loves her), meanwhile he is with susana. That would be a torture for Candy and for him. Candy left him at the hospital knowing he had to take care of Susana, and he acepted his fate in that moment. Candy and Terry are faithful to each other and to their actions. Also we know to keep mourning for a year is a worldwide tradition. Also Terry’s letter is after susana’s obituary in CCFS, and knowing Terry’s personality, it is so probable he sent the letter when he felt free from the issues concerning susana’s life and her obsesión with him. He saids he hesitated half a year more after send the letter, so he is nervous and he waits for a response. To send Candy a letter without hope would be so depressive for both of them, like a road without an exit…
