The CCFS story after Candy’s departure from the St. Paul College was written in the epistolatory format via letters. In between some of the letters, there are also Candy’s private thoughts and introspections as she re-read these letters and reminisced upon the events of the past. Nagita had said many times that her manuscript was very long, and telling the story by letters was the only way she could fit everything into two volumes.

Below is a list of all the letters that comprised of the story after St. Paul. The letters are not dated. They loosely follow a chronological order. But in some parts, the timeline was broken as Candy reflected backward into different times in her past.

Two letters appear in the very beginning of CCFS. Their content indicate that they were written to Candy after she moved to England.

• Letter from Sister Lane to Candy.
• Letter from Paulina Giddings (ie Ms. Pony) to Candy. 

• Letter from Susie Carson to Candy. In this letter, we learned that Susie has followed Candy’s footsteps and became a nurse, and that she works in Calcutta. While the letter is not dated, it was clearly written many years after the original Candy Candy story ended.
• Letter from Candy to Mr. Carson. This letter retreated further into the past and the story picks up after Candy’s return to Pony’s Home following her departure from St. Paul. The letters following this one seem to continue with this timeline until Candy’s letter to Mrs. Lagan (see below).
• Letter from Candy to Samuel, Jeffrey, and Susie Carson.
• Letter from Candy to Dan Juskin, owner of the ship in which Candy hid to sail back to America.
• Letter from George Villers to Candy, notifying her of Grandpa William’s agreement to pay for the cost of her enrollment in nursing school.
• Letter from Candy to Captain Nivens, captain on the ship in which Candy was a stowaway.
• Letter from Cookie to Candy. Cookie was the fellow stowaway who wanted to become a sailor.
• Letter from Candy to Sam, Jeff, and Susie Carson.
• Letter from Candy to Terry. It is unclear whether this letter was ever sent or given to Terry. According to the placement of the letter, she would’ve written it before she and Terry met up again in America.
• Letter from Archie to Candy, telling her he and Stair would be returning to America due to the threat of WWI.
• Letter from Stair to Candy.
• Letter from Candy to Sister Gray of St. Paul College.
• Letter from Candy to nurse and Director Mary Jane. Here, Candy recounted the story of her care for the terminally ill patient Mr. McGregor.
• Letter from Annie to Candy. In this letter, Annie told Candy that she too would be returning to Chicago. She also included newspaper clippings of Terry’s performance in King Lear staged by the Stratford Theater Company.
• Letter from Candy to Fran Hamilton.
• Letter from Patty to Candy. Patty informed Candy that she would be coming to live in Chicago to avoid the war.
• Letter from Candy to Director Frank Campbell of St. Joseph’s Hospital. Here, there were brief mentions about Albert, who they only knew then as the patient in Ward Zero.

From here on, the letters tell the story beyond the ending of the story in the manga and the anime.

• Letter from Candy to Sarah Lagan. The letter mentioned Candy’s attendance of the grand opening of a hotel in Florida owned by the Lagan’s.
• Letter from Candy to Stewart Lux, chauffeur for the Lagans. Candy mentioned how happy she was to see him and Mary Darcy at the hotel opening in Florida.
• Letter from Candy to Mary Darcy, servant of the Lagans. In the letter, we learned that Mary has become the Lagan’s head waitress.
• Letter from Candy to Jacob Whitman, gardener at Lakewood.
• Letter from Candy to George Villers. In this letter, we learned about George’s background, and how became an important part of the Ardlay family.

From here, the time line of the letters are not clear. From the content of the story, they seemed to have been written shortly after Stair’s death, and serve to tell the story of his demise during battle. 

• Letter from Archie to Candy.
• Letter from Rolf Baughmann, a military captain whom Stair served under.
• Letter from Patty to Candy. She talked about Candy working for Dr. Martin at the Happy Clinic, and expressed concerns for Mr. Albert’s recovery from his memory loss.
• Letter from Annie to Candy. Annie too, talked about Stair’s loss, but she made a passionate case for Candy to fight to gain back Terry, and how much she disagreed with Candy’s decision to give him up for Susanna. She also talked about the rumors of Terry’s decline in his theater performances following his break up with Candy.
• Letter from Archie to Candy warning her about Neal.
• Letter from Candy to Dr. Martin, talking about Albert’s recovery from his loss of memory.

• Letter from Candy to Dr. Martin, about Dr. Martin’s proposal to open a clinic in Pony’s Hill’s village. 
• Letter from Candy to Vincent Brown, Anthony’s father.
• Letter from Candy to Gloria Bandog, manager of the House of Magnolia.
• Letter from Candy to Aunt Elroy.
• Letter from Candy to Archie.
• Letter from Candy to Aunt Elroy pleading for her to approve Archie and Annie’s marriage proposal.
• Letter from Candy Alistair. Stair had already passed away when this letter was written. Candy used it to tell him about Archie and Annie’s engagement party.

The next set of letters relate to what happened to Candy and Terry.  From their content, we know they were written after Rockstown. We will be discussing these letters in depth in our analysis of why Terry is Anohito.

• Candy’s letter to Eleanor Baker. In the letter, Candy said that it had been a long time since they’d spoken at Rockstown.
• Candy’s unsent letter to Terry.
• Letter from Susanna to Candy. The letter was followed by Candy’s reflection on Susanna’s death, which Candy had read about in Susanna’s obituary.
• Terry’s letter to Candy.

The next part of the story is the Epilogue, which contains the correspondences between Candy and Albert, followed by a letter from Candy to the deceased Anthony, and the final scene in which we meet Anohito. We will be analyzing these letters to show why no romance ever existed between Candy and Albert.
