Before the release of Candy Candy Final Story, the story Candy Candy was published in novel series format three times. The first publication was in 1978 in two volumes. The second publication was in 1990 in three volumes. The third publication was in one volume in paperback in 2003 and in hard cover in 2004. 

Below are the translations from the 1990 version of: (1) the Afterwords of Volumes 1 and 2, which contain Nagita’s messages to fans and readers; and (2) the Preface of Volume 3, which is a letter from Candy to fans and readers.
